This heater is particularly suitable for cars, machines, caravans and vans. Now also for Webasto cars, see below for more information: Warming up the battery when driving

Note: The heater is also suitable for the heating of different tanks and containers. Also perfectly suited for heating AdBlue/urea containers. Without heating, the urea begins to freeze already at -11 °C. An excellent solution for the heating of utility and tool boxes as well.
Ask our customer service for more information.

The battery heater is controlled by a thermostat and maintains the temperature of the battery at 20±5 °C.

Suitable for most battery types with the capacity of 50-120 A. Also suitable for AGM batteries.
The minimum size of the battery (recommended) must be at least 210 × 130 millimetres (length x height).
The recommended total weight of the battery is 15 – 30 kg.

Do you need a bigger similar heater for a van, tractor, work machine or even an electric scooter, for example?

Check that the battery height for the larger heater is at least 180 mm and the length is 320 mm.

Power Battery Heater is made of flexible silicone rubber which withstands cold and heat as well as water, battery acid and other chemical substances.

The battery heater is equipped with an extra long, three-metre rubber cable, intended for challenging conditions, which endures and stays flexible even in cold weather.

Using it is very easy. Drop the Battery Heater between the battery box and battery, and plug it in. That's all. If necessary, secure it around the battery with a quick-lock belt. A quick-lock belt is included in the product package. The heater has a great amount of power despite its low power consumption of just 57 watts. When you switch on the battery heater in the evening, the battery is guaranteed to be warm in the morning, and your car or machine will start without trouble.
A battery heater needs to be used only during cold weather, when necessary.

The heater is equipped with a thermostat which optimises the temperature of the battery fluid and cells, maintaining it at 20±5° C. The thermostat has been integrated into the heater itself, therefore also keeping the surface temperature of the battery within safe limits.

The Schuko plug and cable comply with the European and Finnish electrical safety regulations and are also splash-proof (IP44). Certificates: SGS, FI, DEMKO, DEKRA, NF, NEMKO, SEMKO, OVE, VDE etc.

The battery heater complies with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive.
CE certified. The product is also patent and design protected.

Warming up the battery when driving

How to warm up the battery when mains power is not available? This is possible by connecting the heater to an inverter. It can convert the voltage of 12V produced by the car battery into 230V, suitable for a battery heater. Simple to install and an affordable way to warm up the battery.

When warming up the car while driving somewhere where mains power is not available, in Lapland, for example, this is a brilliant solution for getting the battery warmed up. The warm battery charges fully during driving, and the power is guaranteed to be enough for the next start up as well as the Webasto. An excellent solution for machinery, too, when mains power is not available.

A low-voltage inverter is more than enough for producing a suitable voltage and power for the battery heater. The car battery definitely has enough power. There is also no danger of the battery discharging. The inverter must be connected so that, only while the car is running, it is taking power from, e.g. the car's cigarette lighter socket or directly from the fusebox. The switch of the inverter can also be used, depending on the situation.

While idling, a low-voltage inverter usually takes only 0.3-0.4A of power, which is close to nothing.

Low-voltage inverters are also cheap. The price of a 150W inverter is only about 35 Euros.

Why do batteries lose power during cold weather?

In cold temperatures, the chemical reactions inside the battery cannot take place properly which causes the internal resistance of the battery to increase and voltage to drop. A cold battery provides very little power. It also cannot charge properly or at all.

Even if the battery was fully charged in a warm garage, at -18°C, the battery will only provide 50% of its power. If the battery is a little old and used for driving short distances, it's never completely full. In such cases, there is a high risk that the car will no longer start.
