Installation and compatibility

• the heater is wrapped around the battery
• tightening with fixed hook-and-loop straps
• finally, the straps are cut to the appropriate length
• the power cord is connected to the supply cable
• the battery does not need to be disconnected during installation
• installation takes only a couple of minutes

Connection:
• connection to the engine heater cable, or
• separate power supply using a Calix or Defa connection kit

Connections:
• supplied with a Calix-compatible cable (0.6 m)
• with an adapter, the heater is also Defa-compatible

The Polar battery heater is now also available for all Scania trucks.

Technical specifications and performance

• Thermostat control: keeps the battery temperature at an average of 20 ± 5 °C
• Heating capacity:
o the battery heats up from –18 °C to approximately +20 °C in about 5 hours
o after heating is stopped, the battery cools back down to the outdoor temperature only after about 24 hours
o the battery remains warm during a normal 8–12 hour working day even if heating is interrupted
o 80 W power is distributed evenly to both sides of the battery
• According to a Tekniikan Maailma magazine test, a warm battery accepts charging current up to 4 times better than a cold battery
• The result is fewer unnecessary battery replacements and a significant increase in battery service life

Structure and materials

• Flexible silicone rubber that is highly resistant to battery acid and other chemical substances
• All electronics are encapsulated gas- and liquid-tight inside the silicone
• The thermal insulation is vulcanized directly onto the heater surface
• Heater elements placed on both sides provide the battery with even heat

Compatibility dimensions – PH80

The PH80 heater is suitable for all batteries when the following conditions are met:

1. Maximum width: battery width (from the end, not from the top) max. 310 mm
2. Minimum length: battery length from the side (not from the top) at least 405 mm
3. Minimum height: battery side height from the bottom to the underside of the lid at least 170 mm
4. Minimum circumference: circumference around the battery sides and ends at least 1340 mm (134 cm)

If the battery circumference is smaller, contact customer service – in some cases the heater can also be installed on smaller batteries.
